Wild Mushroom Workshop – Sold Out!

Wild mushrooms come in an astonishing array of shapes, sizes, and colours…and some are delectably delicious! Our expert workshop guide, JanThornhill, provides tips on identifying, finding, and preparing a variety of these edibles. The workshop includes a PowerPoint introduction to the eye-popping diversity of wild mushrooms and other fungi, with a focus on easy edibles for the beginner; a hands-on display of seasonal finds; an hour-long foray into the woods on the to see what we can find.  We’ll end our time together with a delicious 3 course vegetarian lunch that begins with tastings of a variety of wild-sourced, choice edibles.

Jan Thornhill has been studying Ontario’s amazing fungi for more than 25 years. Not only does she savour the choice edibles, she also studies fungal diversity and ecology. She is an obsessive collector, and has been identifying, cataloguing, photographing, and dehydrating almost everything she finds. She is a 10-year member of the Mycological Society of Toronto, leads forays with that group as well as privately, and is an experienced speaker. She writes about fungi on her blog and elsewhere.
